Route 94 is a British house producer who scored an enormous hit early in his career and never matched it. "My Love", released in 2014 and featuring a then-rising Jess Glynne, was a deep-house track with a soulful vocal, and it debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart, knocking Pharrell Williams's "Happy" off the top.
The song went multi-platinum and made Route 94 a name, but it was Glynne who went on to superstardom, while the producer's own later releases never approached the same reach.
On streaming, "My Love" sits near 650 million plays, while his next most-streamed track trails at around 25 million. That sends the ratio above 26, many times our 5.0 line.
By our measure Route 94 is a certified one-hit wonder, with the caveat that fits a producer whose biggest moment was carried partly by a guest vocalist. His is a familiar dance-music shape: one immaculate, chart-topping deep-house single that introduced a future star and then stood, on streams, far ahead of everything else he made. In the end, the guest singer's career soared while the producer's stayed tied to one track.
