Fort Minor was the hip-hop side project of Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park, a one-album venture that nonetheless produced one of the most enduring motivational anthems in modern music. "Remember the Name", released in 2005 with Styles of Beyond, is built around its famous arithmetic of effort: "this is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill", and it has become a permanent fixture of sports highlight reels and gym playlists.
The project was always a short detour from Shinoda's main career, so its catalogue is small, but the song has only grown over the years through endless use in trailers and broadcasts.
On streaming, "Remember the Name" sits near 868 million plays, while the project's next biggest track, "Where'd You Go", trails at around 135 million. That puts the ratio above 6, past our 5.0 line.
By our measure Fort Minor is a certified one-hit wonder, with the obvious caveat that it was a side project from a member of one of the biggest rock bands in the world. Its tiny catalogue was never meant to be a full career, and one relentlessly quotable anthem of hard work has come to stand for the whole brief venture.
