Beach Weather are an American indie-rock band, formed by Nick Santino of A Rocket to the Moon, whose biggest hit arrived years after they first recorded it. "Sex, Drugs, Etc." came out in 2016 on an early EP and made little impact at the time. The band went quiet not long after.
Then, in 2022, the song went viral on TikTok, helped along by a sync on a Netflix drama, and it became a genuine hit, going platinum and topping the alternative airplay chart. The success prompted the band to reunite and finally release a debut album.
On streaming, "Sex, Drugs, Etc." sits near 1.4 billion plays, while their next genuinely different track trails far behind. That sends the ratio above 14, far past our 5.0 line.
